Welcome, NC -- Richard Childress Racing will be auctioning off hundreds of items from used race cars during a public auction on Tuesday.
The auction will include race cars, engines, parts, accessories, equipment and memorabilia. Click here for a full list of what’s up for bids.
The majority of the parts are in fairly new condition, having been run on a very minimal amount.
Iron Horse Auction Company of Rockingham will conduct the auction with live and internet bidding. The company is recognized on an international level for its knowledge and experience in the sale of NASCAR racing equipment. Iron Horse has held auctions for major teams since 1980, including Digard Racing, Blue Max, Black Diamond and Holman and Moody.
"We’ve done a couple here for Childress over the years," Iron Horse worker Bo Frye said. "They don’t come along very often, though. So it is a very good opportunity."
Fans are already taking advantage of the opportunity to preview the auction items. Roger Pauley drove to Davidson County from Floyd, Va. on Sunday morning to scope out potential buys.
"I’ll probably be early [Tuesday] and the last one to leave," Pauley said.
One lot Pauley had his eye on is expected to be pretty popular: the Chevy Monte Carlo that Clint Bowyer crossed the finish line upside-down and on fire in during the 2007 Daytona 500.
Signs will be displayed throughout the RCR complex to guide prospective buyers to the auction site. Registration opens Tuesday at 8 a.m. at 425 Industrial Drive in Welcome.
